Carragher talks about World Cup favorites: Argentina will get huge support in the United States, Spain and France are stronger than England and Portugal

Former England international and Liverpool star Carragher recently talked about the favorites for the 2026 World Cup. He does not think the England team led by Tuchel is the most promising team.

Carragher said: "You definitely have to look at Argentina first, they are the defending champions, and are we going to see Messi's last dance? Argentina will probably get huge support, especially in Miami, because of Messi's influence in MLS and the fact that he plays at Inter Miami.

"In terms of European teams, European Cup champion Spain has Yamal, and France has Mbappe, arguably they are the two best players in the world at the moment. And the French team also has Dembélé, so it’s hard for me to rule them out as favorites.

"England is a member of the next echelon, tied with Portugal. The teams I mentioned are most likely the favorites to win the championship. Of course, other teams also have the possibility of upsets."
