Van Basten: Dembele plays a bit like Cruyff, playing the role of a pseudo-center in the team

Dembele, who helped Paris win the Champions League, is currently the biggest favorite at the Golden Ball. Recently, Van Basten, a commentator of the Dutch Ziggo Sport channel, praised Dembele's transformation in the way he played football in the program.

Van Basten said: "He plays football a bit like Cruyff, and he often plays the role of pseudo-center in the team." Van Basten then added that he was talking about Dembele's playing style, not the level of the players.

"This probably started in the middle of the season, because he had a lot of problems at the beginning of the season. When Dembele started playing in the middle, the freedom he gained made the team's overall performance very well."

Van Basten's praise was also recognized by Gulit. Gulit, who is also a commentator at Ziggo Sport, said: "The goals Dembele scored now make me think, 'I have never seen you score like this!'
