Rondo: All teams in the NBA are running the same tactics. Teams such as the Lakers use forwards to initiate offense and do not need point guards.

Recently Rondo was a guest on Giannis Antetokounmpo's podcast "Thanalysis Show", during which he talked about the development of current NBA tactics.

"Generally in the past you needed a player on the court who could help you slow down the tempo, let him put his teammates in the right position, and pass the ball to the right player when needed. Obviously, this is very important because this is the way the NBA game used to work. But now the NBA is a league of imitators. Once a certain tactic is successful, all teams will follow it. And now many teams like to use forwards to launch offenses, such as James of the Lakers, and point guards have no role. Forwards need to organize offense, score and lead the team into the playoffs... Now the game seems to be more mechanical, and every team is running the same tactics. Maybe in five or six years, point guards will be valued again," Rondo said.
