Introduce a challenge! Official: U17 World Cup will enable FVS system, and coaches can question referee decisions
FIFA officially announced that the Football Video Support System (FVS) will be enabled during the U17 World Cup. When the head coaches of both sides believe that there are obvious mistakes and missed judgments, each team can obtain a limited number of review applications per game. Players on the court can also recommend that the coaching team apply for review. 【Official Announcement】 After full preparations with FIFA referees from various federations, the FIFA referees committee officially announced the list of match officials to supervise the match at the 2025 FIFA U17 World Cup, this event will be expanded to 48 teams for the first time, with a total of 81 match officials (27 referees and 54 assistant referees) being invited to enforce the law. The match will be held in Qatar from November 3 to 27, and the Football Video Support System (FVS) will be activated during the matches, which has completed testing in the 2024 U20 Women's World Cup and U17 Women's World Cup. Unlike the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system, FVS does not set up full-time video game officials, so it will not check all events that change the game trend. Instead, when the head coaches of both sides believe that there are obvious mistakes involving goals, penalty kicks, direct red cards or identity misjudgment, each team can obtain a limited number of review applications per game. Players on the field can also recommend that the coaching team apply for review. 【Related News】ESPN: FIFA hopes to introduce FVS system so that coaches can question referee decisions
