After Marseille lost 1-2 in the Champions League away to Sporting CP, Marseille forward Aubameyang expressed his extreme anger at the referee's decision during an interview, especially when teammate Emerson was sent off.

Q: How do you evaluate the referees in this game?

Aubameyang: When someone makes things difficult for you, the game becomes complicated. The referees were totally out of it tonight. There was no penalty in our favour. We dominated the game and even scored the first goal.

Aubameyang: The first yellow card Emerson received was simply inexplicable. He couldn't move his hands at all.

Q: Does the game become more difficult after one player is sent off?

Aubameyang: The second half was more difficult, we had to play deeper. They applied pressure and scored. We didn't even have the right to speak (to the referee), he only spoke to the captain. This is so shameful.

Q: Do you think this level of refereeing is worthy of the Champions League?

Aubameyang: When the atmosphere of a Champions League game is so high, it is simply shameful to encounter such a referee. It punished us, we were playing well and (the red card) completely changed the course of the game. We are very angry but now our focus is on the league.
