AS: Many teams are interested in Mingesa, it is almost impossible for him to renew his contract with Celta Vigo
"AS" reported that many teams are interested in Celta Vigo defender Mingueza. Mingesa's contract with Celta Vigo will expire next summer, and now his agent is more focused on dealing with the numerous offers coming in instead of renewing his contract with the Galician club. Celta Vigo has long been interested in renewing the contract with the player. The club once submitted a renewal offer, but after evaluation it was deemed to lack sincerity. The subsequent counter-offer has not been responded to yet. The positions of the two sides are so different that it is almost impossible to reach an agreement. The two sides will negotiate again in January next year, when Mingueza is free to negotiate with other clubs. This summer Celta received offers ranging from 12 million to 14 million euros, but insisted on refusing to sell. The main reason is that Barcelona retains 50% ownership of the player. If the player is transferred for this amount, Barcelona will take away about six to seven million euros. Celta believes that this amount is not enough to release the player, because it is difficult to find a replacement with equal or better performance on the market for 6 million euros. The 26-year-old Mingueza has fully adapted to the Celta Vigo system and has been selected for the Spanish adult national team. For the same reason, transfers in the winter window are almost hopeless. In addition, it cannot be ignored that Celta is fighting on three fronts this season. They have to distract themselves from La Liga, the Copa del Rey and the Europa League. Mingesa is comfortable living there, but has received many attractive offers. Villa, West Ham and Newcastle in the Premier League are all interested in introducing him. In Serie A, Como, Atalanta and AC Milan also regard him as a reinforcement target. Marseille, who spent heavily this summer, have never taken him out of their attention. In addition to retaining 50% of the secondary transfer share, Barcelona also has the right of first refusal for Mingueza. The club had strongly hoped that Celta Vigo would complete the transfer this summer in order to obtain a share. At some point, I may even consider buying it back, keeping it for my own use, or reselling it for profit. However, due to the need to pay nearly 10 million euros in repurchase funds, it was finally abandoned.
