One-step Grand Slam! Lautaro: I m lucky I have the World Cup + Copa America and I m proud to enter the Champions League final again
At 3:00 on June 1, Inter Milan will face Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final. Before the game, Inter Milan captain Lautaro attended the press conference.
Now you are only short of the Champions League...
Lautaro: "That's true. I'm lucky to win some important championships: a World Cup, two Copa America, and many honors I've won in Inter Milan. I'm thankful to God. But I don't always think about what I'm missing. However, winning the Champions League is a very important goal for a player. I'm happy and proud to be able to participate in the final again. We will try to play a perfect match and bring this long-lost trophy back to Italy."
How can we win the final?
Lautaro: "By playing a perfect match, pay attention to all the details. This is a final, we must focus highly and prepare in the best way, to make sure we are both physically and mentally - focus, rest well, and ready to deal with the challenges that Paris Saint-Germain will create for us."
How do you feel about participating in this final as a captain and other finals you have ever participated in?
Lautaro: "It is certainly a bit different to face this final as a captain. But, in every game we fight for the entire team. It's a final, so it obviously has special significance. However, the most important thing is to focus on doing what we know how to do. We respect our opponents, but we also know that we can cause trouble for them. We have to maintain a positive attitude."
Does this final offer you the opportunity to win the Golden Globes?
Lautaro: "Like I always say: Individual awards are always at the bottom. What I am thinking about now is not the individual awards, but that is not to say I don't want to win it. Our primary goal is to make Inter Milan win the Big Ear Cup we have been away from for 15 years, to make everyone happy again, and to make all Inter Milan fans feel happy."
Feel you are more recognized in Italy than in Argentina?
Lautaro: "Well, I've been playing in Italy for 7 years, and everyone is paying close attention to my performance year after year. The most important thing is to help Inter Milan grow together with my teammates."
Do you feel that this season marks the confirmation of your achievements in European football?
Lautaro: "I did score a lot of goals and played a lot of important games this season, but I am working hard to improve every day. That's what I think, and it's this mentality that has brought me to the current level. I'm happy about this journey and being able to participate in this final. We all have made great sacrifices for it, and this is the reward we deserve."
Do you have a very experienced midfielder, will this be the decisive area?
Lautaro: "The midfield of Paris is very strong, just like the whole Paris Saint-Germain, otherwise they would not have reached the Champions League final. The midfield is indeed their core area. However, as I have always said, our strength lies in the entire team. Our performance against Barcelona has proved this: without a great group, without a great team, we would not be able to play such a game."
You will face Kvaratsglia again...
Lautaro: "We know him very well and have played against Naples many times in Serie A. He is a talented player, good at one-on-one breakthroughs and able to make use of space. We must pay attention to not only him, but also beware of many other players with high-level technical skills in Paris. There are only a few hours left before the start of the game. Today we will have our last training, and before the break, we must handle the final details."
How much do you want to dedicate this victory to your coach?
Lautaro: "This question is about things that come out in the media every day. We are calm, he is with us, he is still here, working hard every day to improve the team. This week we prepared for this game as we did for every other game. We dedicated this victory to him, to all our fans, to our families."
What moments are you going through on a personal level? Inter Milan is as graceful as you are, as you are as graceful as you are...
Lautaro: "Of course, this has been the case since day one. The club signed me when I was young. Today I stepped on the court to give my all. What matters is the title, and tomorrow we have a chance to win an important championship. We will strive to meet the game at the best, and my teammates and coaches are the same. We will try to enjoy this night and we deserve to stand here."
