Official: Hamburg announced a contract renewal with 34-year-old coach Porzin, and took over and led the team to upgrade in the middle of last season

Hamburg, the newly promoted Bundesliga team, officially announced that it will officially renew its contract with coach Borzin.

On Saturday local time, Hamburg Club issued an announcement on its official website stating: "Hamburg and the coaching team renewed their contract. In order to prepare for the 2025-26 Bundesliga season, the club made another important decision to renew the contract with coach Borzin and the coaching team." However, Hamburg official did not disclose details such as the contract term.

34-year-old Porzin was born in Hamburg and started as an assistant coach in Hamburg in the 2020-21 season. At the end of November 2024, Porzin became Hamburg's interim coach, and then signed with Hamburg until the end of last season due to its excellent coaching performance. When Borzin took over the team, Hamburg was only ranked 8th in the Bundesliga standings. After taking office, he led the team to average 1.86 points per game and eventually won the runner-up in the Bundesliga. Hamburg returned to the Bundesliga after seven years.

Borzin's coaching team also includes assistant coaches Loyk Faff, Richard Crohn, physical coach Jan Hasenkamp, rehabilitation coach Sebastian Capel, goalkeeper coach Sven Hoch, game analyst Edward Leson and others.

Borzin said after renewing the contract: "Everyone knows that Hamburg is my hometown club. Since I came to work in Hamburg, the team logo on my chest has made me proud. I have felt particularly nervous over the past few months, especially because of the promotion to the Bundesliga, and our coaching team understands what this club means to the fans. We will focus on preparing Hamburg for the Bundesliga, we treat this work with the greatest modesty and the greatest ambition, and do our best for Hamburg day after day."
