Chairman Santos talks about Neymar: Negotiations are progressing greatly, I hope to renew the contract as soon as possible, but we are not in a hurry

Neal's contract with Santos will expire at the end of this month. Santos club chairman Teixeira talked about Neymar's latest developments in an interview, and he is very confident that the two sides will reach a contract renewal.

Teixeira said: "We are negotiating with Neymar's team, and we have made positive and great progress in the new negotiations, very close to reaching a new agreement that allows Neymar to stay with the team for a while. We hope to complete this work as soon as possible, but we can't rush it.

"And that doesn't mean Neymar is not renewing the contract, and he will not be able to play tomorrow or Sunday, which is not the case. We are not in a hurry to let Neymar come on the court, nor are we in a hurry to let the team return to the court, that's what I think. I am confident in the end result. Unlike the situation in recent times, given the current progress and the way we talk to each other, I am very optimistic about the possibility of this matter, and I think the progress is just right now.

"I'm very open: neither side is dissatisfied, we sat down and expressed our respective positions clearly, and so is Neymar's side. We have every opportunity, the club's financial, legal and marketing teams, and their team, are putting this matter in a direct and practical position. Is it possible for us to achieve a positive outcome in the end? Yes."
